WE ARE THE YOUTH, NOT JUST THE YOUTH!
WE ARE THE YOUTH, NOT JUST THE YOUTH!: “Only The Young” by Taylor Swift Analysis
To elaborate, every line was meaningful and represented the unjust government and bogus campaigns. As I play the song, I remember how hopeful I was, how hopeful every Filipino was. Though I was not a registered voter due to my age, I still did my responsibilities as a Filipino. I was campaigning for former Vice President Leni Robredo, Former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, and the Tropang Angat. I joined rallies, events, and other community programs. I maximized my knowledge, skills, passion, and resources to advocate what is right and educate other Filipinos especially registered voters. A lot of Filipinos fought for justice, and equality– a better and brighter future.
To be honest, I was uneducated and apolitical when I was younger, however, I am proud to say that I am still young but now an educated activist. My hope for a better country will never diminish, and I will always fight for justice. Just like the line “Only one thing can save us, only the young”, I firmly believe that teenagers like me are capable of bringing justice. Even Jose Rizal stated that “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan”, or “The youth is the hope of our country”. There was a light at the end of the tunnel, but we took it for granted. Nonetheless, the battle just started, so we will continue to fight until everything is right.
