Artificial Intelligence Art Generators: Critique from an Artist's Perspective

The article entitled “Editorial: A.I. art generators hurt artists, hinder development of human culture” written by Jack Radcliffe and the other ENO Staff elaborated and emphasized the negative effects of Artificial Intelligence art generators. As the title states,  these consequences of the current time’s high technology affect the artists themselves and human cultural development. However, as an aspiring artist, is this brief Editorial enough to combat this issue?

Considering the fact that it was a 3-minute read article, there are few pieces of information that could have been explained further since not every reader is knowledgeable regarding artificial intelligence (AI) art generators. For instance, the revolution of AI was simply stated at the beginning without defining what it is. On the one hand,  the argument that it “hinders the development of human culture” is insufficiently supported since only one piece of evidence was cited. Personally, there are a few points that I agree with such as that one of the essences of an artist is their art style and originality.

Nonetheless, the overall editorial is still relevant and helpful regardless of its lacking content. Its conclusion makes an impact as it is one stepping stone that will eventually result in bringing justice for artists and giving them the importance and recognition they deserve.
